Dangers of Shirk – Idolatry or Polytheism

Islam believes that the greatest form of Sin a human being can commit against Allah is as- Shirk, which means associating partners with his Supremacy.
Allah does not forgive whoever dies as a Mushrik, i.e. a Polytheist, without repenting.
ۚ
In the holy Qur’an Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. – Surat An-Niisa’a, 48When the Sacred Months (the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikeen (see V.2:105) wherever you find them,
Capture them and besiege them- At-touba, V 5.

The Mushrik’s life and belongings are halal (lawful) for the Muslim. Meanwhile, Allaah doesn’t accept any good deed that the Mushrik commits, and all his good actions are worthless.

And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad), as it was to those (Allaah’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with Allaah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.”- Az-zumr V 65.

Entering Janna (heaven) is unlawful for the Mushrik, and his final home is hellfire for eternity. It can be traced to a Qur’an verse where Allah said, “Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers. -Surat Al-Maeda, v 72
